Pioneer Apartments is an affordable housing building with 36 apartments – 1 BR, 2BR, and 3BR. Nine of the apartments have HUD Section 811 subsidies for people with one or more disabilities. Residents starting moving into their apartments in October 2020. The apartment building was financed with a Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency Low Income Housing tax credits. Other funding included: Richard King Mellon grant, PHARE no-interest loan, Federal Home Loan Bank grant, and the donation of land from the City of
New Kensington.
